  • How to install Plug-ins from Photoshop

The help .pdf manual says: “because of the After Effects plug-in technology, you can use additional effects from other Adobe plug-in-compatible applications, such as Adobe Photoshop.”
But I’ve tried simply transferring plug-ins from folders in both Photoshop 7 and cs2 to various folders in After Effects with no success. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Hmm … AE hasn’t been able to use PS plugins since AE 6.5, if I recall. Which version of AE are you using?

It does seem odd that they’re mentioned in the help.

At any rate, AE 6.5 can’t use PS filters.

I don’t know when they stopped working, but I have a copy of AE 4.1 on an old O9 box that I’ve played with some of the filters in, mostly the texture stuff, and changing the amount (craquelare (sp?) made a really cool effect). Most of the more advanced, additional plugs (like KPT), do not seem to work at all, and even give some kind of message saying that they are not at a degree of compatibility high enough with the original photoshop architecture.
