  • How to insert new audio without throwing old audio out of sync?

Rather new to this. Wondering how to insert audio (I have quite a few layers working here) withough throwing audio later in the timeline out of sync. Seems when I drag and drop a new audio clip, all the other audio clips on those tracks get pushed. How do I avoid this? Thanks in advance,

    Hal,

The million dollar tip is coming up, better whip out that checkbook… You’ll remember me every time you edit on FCP from this point forward…

When you drag, check out the little arrow that appears on the timeline. When you drag to a point high up on the timeline, the arrow points to the right — that’s an insert edit, which will move eveything down. When you drag to a point a bit lower, the arrow points down, and that’s an overwrite edit, which doesn’t move anything.

    Send that check soon please…

HOLY CRAP! I mean cow, I have been editing for 3 years and that has annoyed the crap out of me forever.
The things that you just dont bother to figure out or fix. I would just apple -Z and try again. It’s kind of like a leaky faucet, its not really hurting anything, but wow is it annoying.
    the cow comes through again
