  • How to import “*.dv” file into Adobe Premiere project

Don’t ask why, but I have a bunch of Apple iMovie folders that contain *.dv files that I need to import into Adobe Premiere on a PC. I can’t seem to find a way for Premiere to accept my dv files. I’ve tried renaming to *.mov to no avail, and to *.avi which would result in no video, but massively accelerated sound (35 minutes became 9).

What can I do to import the *.dv file cleanly into Adobe Premiere?

    Thanks in advance

.DV files are an Apple codec, you can try opening them in QT7 and converting them.

The only way I’ve been able to do this is to open them with quicktime and export in a different format.

It’s time and disk consuming, but it works.

Thanks for your replies. I’ll look into that. However I found another way out and just thought I’d share that with the forum. We imported the DV into After Effects and then exported to avi. We didn’t even look into other formats, because avi did the trick for what we need it for, but just to let everyone know that although the QT route seems cleaner, the AfterEffects workflow works, too.

    Cheers
