  • How to get secondary color corrector to work

Posted by Ron Whitaker on November 25, 2012 at 2:15 am

In SVP 12, I’m trying to use the secondary color corrector.

I have a clip and add the secondary color corrector plugin to it. I click on the eye dropper tool next to select effect range.

I then go into the clip in the Video Preview and select my color range.

Then, back in the secondary color corrector, I click the checkbox next to Show Mask. The entire clip in the Video Preview simply turns white and shows nothing. Adjusting the Luminance, Saturation, Hue sliders don’t do anything.

This happens to me all the time. I rarely am able to get the secondary color corrector to work.

    What is happening?

Hmm.. working here on VP12 Build394.

Do your other FXs work? Especially any that have an eyedropper involved in the process? How about the Color Corrector?

You may be looking at at least a Factory Reset or a reinstall of Vegas. If you are getting this all the time then chances are that you’ve got a “sour” install. Has happened to me too and trying to chase these annoyances down can be rather removed by a Factory or reinstall.

What Build are you currently on? And do you install-over or uninstall and then install? There is much internal connection of functions that are setup in installing, you may just have been unlucky.

    HTH . . .

    Thanks for your reply.

    I’m using Build 394 on Windows 7 64-bit.

    Hmm, it is working here.

1/- Was this your first ever install of VP12?

2/- Did you “install over”, or do an uninstall and then install?

I’ve had installs needing to be redone.

Before you do that, do try the factory reset sequence as described by the SCS FAQs:

You might try resetting the software to its factory default settings. To do so, close the program. Now press Ctrl+Shift and reopen the software. A window asks “Do you want to reset all preferences to default values?” Select the Delete all cached application data checkbox and click Yes. Note: If you reset the software to default settings all customized preferences will be reset. If you have changed any specific preferences and you want those changes back, you will need to reconfigure these after resetting the software.

    Cheers

Yea, I’m using the same build as you and it’s working for me too. That’s really strange. Is your Video Preview on a secondary monitor or something because mine is not.

No. I’m on one monitor, my laptop.

Interesting, something I tried last night: I took a clip and put it in a new project, and then the secondary color corrector worked when I wanted to view the mask.

But, if I drag that clip into an already existing project, that’s when I simply get a white preview screen when I click the Mask option.

    Don’t know if that helps?

I wonder if you have a filter on the Video Bus that you are not seeing.
