  • How to get rid of stupid motion path string things

I hate that AE puts in those little string things (not sure what they’re called) when doing a motion path. Sometimes it is so inconvenient.

They are the little strings that stretch from each keyframe of a motion path, making a smooth curve around. But sometimes it does it on like the z-axis and it screws everything up and you have to rotate the entire project just to center the keyframe dot string thing.

Is there a way to turn this off so it’s not automatically doing it? I do want it sometimes, but not all the time. So is there also a way to turn it back on when it’s off? Thanks so much.

you can set the options for motion paths in preferences>display.

i don’t know of any hot key to toggle it, but you could check the keyboard shortcuts in the help file.

There are instructions for showing and hiding motion path controls in on the After Effects Help page “Motion paths”.
