In the online Help menu, go down to “about Vegas Pro”.
The version number will be listed in there.

its build 896. i just got it to render A MOV! But it reads mp4s (if the apple quicktime is uninstalled, it asks for it) as just audio. So to summerize…

    * without QT insstalled – no dice.

    * with QT, i get audio only.

Not the build number, the version number.
With that build number though, my guess is that you don’t have the latest version so I highly recommend doing that for the reasons stated earlier.

Here’s a list of QuickTime bug fixes in Pro 9.
You see why it’s important to keep your software up to date.

    9.0b:
Fixed a bug that prevented some QuickTime files from reading audio properly.

    9.0c:
Fixed a crash when displaying the Audio tab for QuickTime templates when using QuickTime 7.6.4.
Fixed an issue reading QuickTime audio when using QuickTime 7.6.4.

    9.0d:
Corrected a problem that could cause black frames in MOV files after installing the QuickTime 7.6.6 update.
Fixed a problem that could cause corrupt video when rendering to QuickTime format using the 3 Mbps Video template.

    Smart man!!
Never ever upgrade in the middle of a project.
Wait until it’s all done and then do the update.

I am using Vegas 9.0e, yet I still have problems with MOV files. So far, I have used QT Pro and rendered (pass-through) to mp4, and it works after that.

Can you clarify for me the order I need to install? Is all MOV support supposed to be in the Vegas 9.0 installer? I installed QT Pro before installing Vegas, but I just want to see if I might be missing something with my installation to help straighten this out.

    Thanks

    Bryan Wells
