I have downloaded my P2 files (SD quality) on to my iMac desktop and am wondering how to get them in my timeline. FCP does not recognize these files for import.

First thing I would do if I were you is do a Google search for P2 or Tapeless workflow for FCP. If you don’t find your answer, report back and I’ll post a link that has step by step instructions.

Hint: click one of the links above to also find your answer.

I really hope you have maintained the file structure of the P2 card. It’s not just a matter of copying the MXF files to the desktop

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The key to learning is appreciation, not perspiration. We don’t always need to invent the wheel to appreciate it.

Yes, I realize it is important and much easier to “log and transfer” the files from the camera directly to FCP.
