how to get maximum compatibility with mpeg2
Hey,
I am doing for quite some time small movies – 3-10 minutes length and i always spend the most time for getting the right outputs. Usually everybody with PC laptops or computers have issues with my mpeg2 movies. They have no problem with mpeg1, but with mpeg2 they have different problems – sound is late and it gets in sync after a while…and so on. Usually all
PC based people use Windows media player.I first outputed my movies directly from FCP, but then i started using compression master (just because it reduces the file size). The compatibility issue was with both outputs – directly from FCP and with Compression Master.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me or any advice how to output to mpeg1 and mpeg2 and be on the safe side that it will also work on all the pc computers.

MPEG 2 is for DVD use. For computer playback use Quicktime or Windows Media or Flash.

I think this is most likely a PC problem.
The way I understand it is that Windows does not natively support mpeg2 so third party players, eg installed software DVD players, provide this.
Some work better than others and only some will playback mpeg2 clips in PowerPoint.
In other words, whether mpeg2 clips play on a particular machine is determined by what software has been loaded on that particular machine. PowerDVD is such a programme that is often preloaded on windows machines.
Don’t know about Vista mind you.
