I apologize if this has already been answered. I wasn’t sure what to search for. I tried freeze frame and didn’t really see it answered. Basically what I am trying to do is freeze the video line on my timeline and add narration and then have it pick back up after the narrator finishes his spill.
So, basically, I need to know how to have the image freeze. Then I will just add the narrator’s lines on audio track and then have it fire right back up.
thanks for any help and i hope this makes sense.
Just think “How I Met Your mother” when the action on screen freezes and Bob Saget (narrator) speaks for a bit and then the action picks back up… yeah that, or any other movie/show of all time.

It’s in the FCP Manual. Shift N. It works differently in FCP 7 with speed controls.

    Hi jared,
If you when working with Interlaced material, don’t forget to drop a “De-interlacer” filter in the clip before freeze it. Otherwise your freeze-frame will have the two fields and may froduce a very unpleasant effect.
    Cheers,

    Hi there
I am fairly new to FCP and am editing together a short sequence. I attempted to freeze the frame which i wished to have play for about 5 seconds and dragged the image in the timecode to where the clip was. The image looked fine when using FCP however when exporting the footge to a quicktime movie the image which i froze was suddenly a differernt hue to the clip. The footage is of a women laughing and i wish to freeze the frame as she smiles and then fade to black.. any thoughts would be appreciated xD
