How To Feather The Edge Of A Layer?, with out masks.

April 24, 2025 at 11:09 am“If you select a layer on the timeline and double click the mask tool (box or the cirlce) It will automatically create a mask the size of your layer.” <- this only bounds the layer with a mask though. It doesn’t actually create a mask with the same shape as the layer.

April 24, 2025 at 11:22 amWell it’s been a good 20 years now and your tip is still helping the future of mankind in 2025. Roughen Edges to the rescue (how ironic that the easiest method to smoothen edges is called roughen edges). I’ve been in the AE business for 21 years now and have always come across this problem but I’d always achieve it using multi-step processes. Who’d have known that a simple effect brought to light from a simple reply 20 years ago is all we needed. Thanks Filip!
