How to feather a cropped edge of a video
We have switched over from FCP to Premiere and are generally loving it, but there is one thing I just can’t seem to figure out. I expect it is something easy and I’m just missing it.
Basically, I want to a clip in track 2 over something else in track 1. Then crop one of the sides (in the current case the top) of the video in track 2. And then feather that cropped edge so I can blend it in with the underlying video.
If I add crop then add the edge feather, it feathers everything except the cropped edge. Even if it did everything and the cropped edge I could make it work, but I can’t seem to find a way. And of course, I’d rather just be able to feather the cropped edge alone.
What am I missing?

Downloaded and unzipped the file, but I don’t know how to install it. Don’t see a plug-in folder for Adobe Pr on my MacPro running Lion. Double-click just opens terminal. Any clues?

Michael, finding the plugins folder is not as easy as it was in FCP7. Drag the unzipped file into the following directory: library/application support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/CS6/MediaCore

Thanks, Bill. No such folder on drive (assuming root/Application Support). Should I make one and drag? I’m on CS5.5 under Lion. Lotta unfriendly stuff in Lion re: housekeeping. Nowhere near as accessible as Snow Leopard. OSX beginning to be iOS. Mountain Lion can stay up in the hills….

Michael, make sure you are not looking at your user/library. It’s the OS level library directory. So if you are using CS5.5 the directory path would be:
library/application support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/CS5.5/MediaCore

I’ve had several sequences recently needing a proper feathering after cropping.

Thanks again, Bill. Moved a copy there. Haven’t tried it yet, Attacking the issue with Ae for now. Can also boot back to 10.6/FCP as a backstop, but Ae appears to be doing quite well with it.
