    I got a video of a desert from an online virtual world. I want to fake heat/evaporation rising up the ground of the desert, but how? Which fx should I use? Thanks mates..

    One way to do it would be to create a Displacement Map using the Noise modifier – you would want the noise to be fairly large, and have a slight rippling effect in the vertical axis.

    Once you’re happy with the map, you’ll want to use the Displacement Filter, which takes the Noise map you’ve just created, and uses it to create the distortion in your desert. Here’s a rundown on the filter:
