  • how to extending a layer (hold first frame)

    Hi,
I feel like this can be done and I am sure I have done it before but I can’t remember how to do it.

I have a layer that is a precomp and it goes for 80 frames in a 500frame mastercomp. I want to hold the first frame for as long as I need and the also the last frame for as long as I need.

Is there a way to drag out the beginning of the layer (basically holding the first frame ) Is there a keyboard short cut to do this ?

    Thank you.

There are instructions for time-remapping a layer (in your case a precomposition layer), including freezing a frame and increasing the layer’s duration, in the “Time-remap a layer” section of After Effects Help.
