Can anybody give me the steps on how to export a Final Cut uncompressed HD project as an email-friendly mpeg4 file preserving the 16:9 aspect ratio. I can’t figure out how to do this without getting the dreaded squished look!

I assume you want to use FCP to do a direct export. From FCP, go to File>Export>Using Quicktime Conversion… Then select the Options button, choose the MPEG-4 codec from the settings button, and then set a 16:9 custom size from the size button. Can’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work.

It seems simple enough. I’ll try it. Will Compressor give me better results?
