  • How to export from Final Cut Pro to iDVD

    Hi there,
that title exactly explane my problem.

    DETAILS
I mounted my sequence with Final Cut Pro 7, using the format of the camera with no other encoding: H.264. Pretermitting the error of using H.264 for mounting my sequence, now I’m here to export it.

I have to choose the right codec.
I tried to use DVCPRO HD and HDV. I understood they aren’t what I need, and they make some errors in rendering.
I’m now inclined to use Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 25p. Is it right? What does 25p means? Maybe 25fps?

Remember I have to use it with iDVD to create a simple DVD-menu…

    Thanks for helping me,
    Leo.

    Hi Leonardo,
Change your sequence codec to Prores (SQ, HQ) and render.
p25 means 25 Progressive frames per second.
    Cheers,
    rafael

    Thks for answering.

    1) Isn’t it possible to de-interlace the video?

    2) HDTV 1080i is my current codec. I tried to export in Quicktime movie with “current setting”, but the resulting video is ratty.. Do I need to set a different Codec?

    3) Is it better to set “Recompress All Frames” or not?

    4) If I set “Chapter Markerkers”, will the finished Quicktime movie have them?

    5) I setted In and Out Marks…. but when I render, the finished video has about 50 minutes of black screen, at the end of it. Why..?

    I’m getting crazy!

    thanks men

    1) You can use JES Deinterlacer to deinterlace. Why would you want to do that?

    2) HDTV is not a codec. Look at the item properties of the sequence. Exporting using the sequence settings. Where are you looking at the exported file? In the QT player? Is it set to high quality playback?

    3) No.

    4) Yes.

    5) No idea. Where are the In and Out points? Is there something 50 minutes down in the timeline? Set the timeline to fit to window. What do you get?

    All the best,

    Tom

  • Re: 1)
  • They told me it is better to deinterlace the video. Doesn’t it delete the horizontal lines in the video when playing? Is in it better..?

  • Re: 5)
  • It happens something strange here: when I create a new project, the timeline start from 1h, and not from 0. You can see it in my sequence, here:

The duration of sequence is about 1:45:00, but it’s actually 0:45:00 of videos.
And the rendered file has a time of 01:30:34. I can’t understand it…

  • I’d like to apply a simple video filter to all the pieces of video, like color correction. When I insert the filter, the monitor doesn’t give me answer… no modification of color or something like that. Is it a setting to changed?
