How to export for projector
What is the best way to export a fcp 7 for screening via projector?
My sequence is DVCPRO HD 720p60.
Frame Size 960×720
Vid Rate 23.98.During a test run the colors looked Washed out.
Also During a test run — There were two thin black lines running running horizontal across the image dividing the screen into thirds. Do you think this is a projector issue?
Should I upsize it for better screening? If so to what?
This was my workflow:
Sent Sequence to Compressor:
H.264
Data Rate > 15,000
1280 x 720 — I made the size larger. Should I have done this?
Pixel Aspect 1.000 Default for SizeThanks

You base your export based on your playback device connected to the projector. You can attach a variety of playback devices to a projector. A video device will give you the best quality. Some devices can output an HD signal. AJA KiPro (ProRes), Blu-ray player (BD Disc), Apple TV (h.264)
You can use a computer via VGA or DVI. That will be your lowest quality.

That’s OK.
Make sure that you set “Key-frames: AUTO”.
In Compressor you must set the “Frame Control ON”. and “Resize: Best”.

Does everything else remain the same in Frame Controls? Do in need to de-interlace? I don’t thing so because my project is DVCPRO HD 720p60. Rate conversion?

Your footage is p60, but you said that your FC sequence was 23,98fps, so FC should have done the p60>p23,98 time base conversion.

Just to be clear… my sequence compressor settings is DVCPRO HD720p60 and the vid rate is 23.98.
I read on another forum that “video projectors don’t do 23.98fps…they’re clocked by the power, which is 60Hz so either 29.97 or 60p is best.”.
So am I OK or should I change anything?

That’s if you are using an old NTSC projector.
23,98 fps is a a broadcast video standard.
But is to you to decide which frame rate you want to use.
There is a noticeable visual difference from 60fps to 23,98fps.
The picture at 60fps will be much smoother than at 23,98fps.
Picture at 23,98fps is film like; much more choppy.
