  • How to export each audio clip separately?

Posted by Martijn Calkhoven on July 13, 2009 at 3:13 pm

My English isn’t too brilliant, so please bear with me.

I have this audio track placed in a sequence. This track contains voice acting. Because the actor exported the whole script in one track, I have to cut it up. And since I have nothing else to do that with, I’m using FCP. I just finished cutting everything up nicely, deleting noises and silences and removing all the gaps so that all the remaining clips are stuck together. Here’s where my problem starts: I thought it was possible to export all those clips individually to wave files, but unfortunately I’m unable to find an export method to do this! Did I just miss it or am I doing something wrong?

I hope someone can help me out here!

    Kind regards,

    Martijn

I’m just guessing here, but can you:

-Drag the Sequence clips from the sequence to a new bin
-Open that bin, select all, File-> Batch Export?

    Cheers,

Try double-clicking on a clip in the timeline, selecting the viewer window, then export the audio clip. This should export only the selected clip, not the whole timeline track.

Thank you for the quick response!
I just found the same solution Alan was talking about, but it really takes a lot of time, I’m talking about 40+ clips 🙁

But Stace’s idea was exactly what I was looking for! I can now rename every track in the bin.(though I think this will probably be possible with clips too)

Thank you so much! My school’s closed ’till september, so I couldn’t ask a teacher and I really need to get this done! This website is great!

    Again, thank you both!

All was going well, but now I’ve stumbled upon a new problem!
For some reason, all of the audio files exported using Stace’s method suffer from a serious stutter. Every half second is followed by a short silence! What am I doing wrong?
