how to export a small section of the timeline- not the whole thing?
Posted by Miles Blow on October 3, 2011 at 10:17 amHi Guys
I don’t want to export the whole timeline ,just a 10 second shot out of hours of footage on the timeline.
In fcp I would just set in and out points then export…cant get that to happen here.
Thanks

October 3, 2011 at 11:15 amI’m new to Roles so I’m not the expert, but it seems to me that Roles is exactly what you need. Roles makes exporting only what you need a painless task.
Assign a unique Role identifier to the clip you want to export, then export Roles and enable only that unique Role name.

Export Compound Clip. It’s easy to select a section and make it a compound clip.
It still has to be moved into a new project even though it’s in a timeline form.
If it could be exported directly it would be nearly as simple as selecting in and out and export. This is what I do now.

October 3, 2011 at 6:25 pmYou can nest into a Compound Clip then trim that to the section you want. Or you could export to Compressor and set in/out points there. (Roles wouldn’t do the trick because they will still export the whole timeline.)
