  • How to export a FCP timeline to DPX image sequence files?

Posted by Thomas Yong on March 18, 2008 at 12:03 am

I have onlined a short film in FCP6. Our post house who are doing the color grading requiring an EDL (CMX3600) and DPX image sequences of the entire film.

Is there a way to export these DPX files as image sequences in Final Cut Pro 6? I have no problem exporting them as TIFs, but they are requiring DPX files. Is this possible??? Or do I need to purchase a plug in?

Plus for the purpose of final mastering e.g. adding titles, credits, adding visual effects, adding the mixed sound, I was thinking to move to an Inferno suite or something similar, since I think we will have moved beyond our FCP HD after the grading. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

You would need to use something called Glue Tools. You can use After Effects CS3 or Shake if you’ve got ’em. I’ve used both to get DPX sequences.

Supposedly Inferno can read FCP XML.
