How to erase a light source next to a much brighter light source?
Hey all,
I’m somewhat new to After Effects – getting the results I want when it comes to creative compositing, but when it comes to *fixing* problems with footage… not so much yet.
I have this beautiful, RED camera-shot footage of a projector, shooting out colors and sweeping, smoky beams up and down, left and right.
2 frames from it:

For what I’m using it for (a fairly abstract music video), it would be so much better if you couldn’t see the purple fan opening on the projector, seen to the left of the beam. Otherwise, the image in the frame is exactly what I want.
The problem with getting rid of this is that the colors around and over the light are rapidly changing.
Aside from mirroring the image, cropping or painting over it frame-by-frame, what are my options here? How would you attempt to get rid of that light?
Thanks so much!
