I played with sharpen luma and sharpen RGB. The RGB option was interesting because it gave control over the sharpening based on a dominant color. The shot I played with was a snow covered mountain range in the distance and I was trying to sharpen it through atmospheric haze without making the foreground greens (apple orchard) go all electronic. I was able to get the bluish mountains to sharpen that way.

In the past I have used the Lyric Masked sharpening to help out of focus shots. A lot depends on noise with any of these tools of course.

Curious if you tried sharpening your footage with NEAT yet. If so, did you get the results your hoping for?

Just to let everyone know – I wound up going with the lyric stuff. It seemed to be the best for the price. I did not even try Fx Factory pro as I did not want to fall in love with something that expensive and then have to settle for something cheaper. Fx factory could readily be better but I am very satisfied and almost shocked at how good the lyric stuff is.
