  • How to end up with .flv or .swf

Posted by Norman Willis on July 16, 2009 at 3:12 am

I am starting with Vegas Pro 9. I have Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 and Macromedia Flash 8, but I have no idea how to use either of them.

I have to upload a video to a website. They say the supported formats are flv, mp3, swf.

    >>Supported formats: flv, mp3, swf

I assume by .mp3 they mean audio, so that means I need to output either to flv or swf.

Which is superior for upload, .flv, or .swf? And would you attempt to use Squeeze or Flash to make it? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Norman,
Make your video in Vegas and render as .avi (at DV quality for best results).
Open a new project in Flash 8 and choose File>Import>Import Video. Follow the wizard and you will end up with both a .swf and .flv file.
The .swf file is the Flash “movie” that loads and plays the video file which is the .flv file.
You might need a few more details on how to use Flash but this is one way to get started. Hope this helps.
