how to encode for the web?
i have been trying many things but i can not seem to find the right settings for putting a video on the web that ends up looking decent. i have a 720p 24 sequence and everything looks wonderful when i export as a quicktime but once i put it on the web it looses its 16:9 dimensions, sometimes the sound is crap and text is all pixelated and jittery or its just plain to large of a file. i have been messing with compressor and failing at that as well (even after the apple tutorial on encoding for the web). any ideas?

Are you trying to encode a quicktime file?
I load quicktime files to my website and this is what I do:
For 16:9, try exporting with an image size of 480X270. Audio can be ACC, Mono, 44.1Khz 64bit. The data rate can be 800kbits per second and still maintain some nice image quality.
I do all this with success, except since I still work with DV 4:3, I export an image of 480X320 instead.

I also forgot to mention that I set Key Frames as Automatic.

Hi Ryan,
Videos for the web are always Square pixels.
If you want your videos keep the 16×9 aspect, they have to keep the 16×9 proportion.
The size suggested by Rob is an example.
480/16 = 270/9 = 30
You can you can choose any other number. Multiply by 16 for the width and by 9 for the high.For 4×3 pictures is the same. But multiplying by 4 for the width and by 3 for the high of course.
