Wouldn’t this be better answered in the FCP-X forum, overall? Though I would say you could probably do the track matte to cover the wall using Apple Motion, as well as AfterEffects.

Thank you all for your replies. I had to pass on this project. I don’t have the right tools and skills yet for this.

    re the wink.

you cant comp that out, well you can try, but it wont fix the problem as he’s still screwing his fce up.
use another part of the shot.

    re the wall stain shot:

the second, closer shots has smoke in the fg, so that puts it in the very hard category,
you have to either match the smoke,
or remove it & replace it.
but if it goes over the people, too, that’s really hard.

but it’s a short shot, and we’re not looking at that area (once it’s cleaned up, which i agree it needs to be!)
so you might get away with it.

if you haven’t done this sort of thing before, it;l take you some time, and may not look too good.

I understand you decision, it was probably for the better.

Just to put up an idea, would it have been enough to mask out the stain and blur it? With a nice feather it could atleast ease the “eye-pain” your customer is experiencing.
