For what it’s worth, I once owned the Panny DV-1000. Worst deck ever. Died (needed new drum and other parts) within 13 months of low-to-moderate use. Right after the warrranty ran out. Of course.

So no surprises that it was the deck.

I’m wondering if this deck is even on the apple fcp supported list… There have been a few pieces of equip. from this era that just didn’t work with fcp.
