trying to figure out how to animate a shockwave, as in nuclear blast, but without the mushroom cloud or detonation. Like a wall of energy extending outwards.

I’m thinking it is a bit like a drop of water hitting a calm body of water, then seeing the ripple extend outwards from the center. having trouble trying to figure that out.

    Any help would be great.

A distortion ripple or an atmospheric effect or ‘death star’ explosion?

    A MASSIVE atmospheric effect.

No destruction of things in its wake, just the transformation of black&white models into color.

But I want to make a shockwave where the viewer goes WOW!

One massive distortion ripple in the atmosphere, I guess. I don’t know what a ‘death star’ explosion looks like. Just googled it and saw a few gifs. Wouldn’t mind seeing an actual animation of one to refer to.
