  • How to do a 4-point track when only 2 points are visible at first?

As an exercise in motion tracking, I have downloaded the clip you can see here, and I want to add a picture into the TV screen.

I guess that in an ideal world I would be corner-pinning, but of course that requires a 4-point track and because of the way the shot pans to reveal the TV, only 2 points are visible for the first 25 frames or so.

What would be the best workflow to approach this?

I would get the clip to where you see all four corners and then do a four point track. Then convert it to keyframes or add “keyframes” to the behaviors four points and do the first few frames by hand. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thanks Stephen. I was hoping there’d be some whizzy secret way of automating it, but by hand it is 🙂

What you need is what Stephen suggested MOCHA. It is a planer tracker which is a miles better than a tracker in motion. It is not expensive to get, also they do have quite a few free video tutorials on their website that you can learn from. If you need a good 3d tracker than you need to get PFHoe.

    I hope this helps.
