How to disable clip connection links?
Hey guys!
I’m new to Macs and Final Cut Pro and have come from using Sony Vegas Pro on Windows. I was wondering if there is a way to completely disable all connection links because I need to move my video clips without moving the audio attached to it.Demo of issue: https://gyazo.com/7c5dcfebf96f38d7b7901d48e378ce60
I know you can move the clips up to the secondary timeline and also “Lift From Timeline” but those things make my timeline look very messy and it isn’t a temporary issue – I never need the connection links and it’s making my life very difficult.
Any help would be appreciated 🙂

If you mean can you disable connections entirely and have isolated ‘tracks’ -afraid that isn’t possible in FCPX. Might want to take a basic tutorial in X so you can learn its differences and benefits over traditional track-based editors.

That’s assuming you’re on a U.S. keyboard, yes. If not, search the Command Editor (⌥⌘K) for “connections” to find out what the shortcut is.

Unfortunately I have not seen any basic tutorials that actually mention the “Override connections” function, which is what he needs. But other than that, getting actual structured training (e.g. Ripple Training) is the best use of one’s time before getting into X that there is, yes.
