  • How to Delete Key Frames

Posted by Jared Smith on September 27, 2010 at 5:29 am

Guys, I am so embarrassed cause I know this must be the simplest thing in the world but I can’t figure out what I am overlooking… I have put keyframes in a clip on my timeline and have decided I don’t want the movement in the shot afterall… how in the world do I delete the keyframes. I put my cursor (which was the shape of a plus sign) over the points and hit delete and nothing happened…
    thanks

    Go to the Motion Tab.

Double click the clip, click motion tab in the viewer, there you will get a list of all possible things to key frame.

Find your keyframes, use the grey arrows with the green dot in the middle to navigate your key frames, click the green dot and your keyframe will be deleted.

Have had the same question myself and just found this posting. I know that clicking on the red “x’ symbol to the left will clear all the key frames on that clip, but havent been able to figure out how to delete individual key frames. I couldn’t see the grey arrows mentioned in the above post – possibly a feature of FCP X? I’m using FCP6.

However, I just tried holding down control when clicking on the green dot and this reveals a drop down menu with an option on it saying ‘clear’ – and that does the trick!
