How to cut in Timeline
I guess I’m just missing something obvious. I need to remove a section of audio only from the timeline. The audio is associated with the video I imported, and I need to use other audio for that clip of video. How can I do this?

Click the Ignore Event Grouping button (or press Ctrl+Shift+U) and then select just the audio event and use the ‘S’ key to slice the event on either side of the part that you don’t want and use the delete key to delete it. Then place any audio you want in it’s place and press Ctrl+Shift+U to turn Event Grouping back on.
You can optionally select the new audio and old video and press the ‘G’ key to group them.

You can also just drop the new audio on top of the old, and it becomes the active take.

You should point out that this has do be done with right-click and drag and then select Add as Takes when you drop it. If you just drop the audio over the existing one it will create a nightmare of hidden events (which imho, should even be allowed)
Just to be clear, that would be done after you have split the event on both side so that just the small section of audio is replaced. That method alone would replace all of the audio which is not the original intent.

John, I am curious about this. If one selects ‘add as takes’, then is one able to select the ‘take’ one wants out of several tracks on the timeline (and ignore the others on the timeline in favor of the active take)?
And is this kind of what InfinityCAM does?

Yes, you then use the ‘T’ key to cycle through the active takes.
And is this kind of what InfinityCAM does?
No, this is what the built in Vegas multicam does. InfinitiCAM actually copies just the camera that you want to the master track.
