  • How to crop without zoom ?

I have usually used the pan/crop to zoom in on a video/image area.

I was wondering how to clip off some portion of a video without applying a zoom. I want to hide some outer part of the video clip. Is the best way to use an FX event to add a a dark border ?

You could use Cookie Cutter, or you could mask in Event Pan/Crop, or even use a regular crop and then use your Track Motion to place the event.

Turn off Stretch to fill frame option in Pan/Crop window and crop the image.

Turning off “Stretch to fill frame” worked nicely. Now I have a video with huge black bars on every sides as planned,

but how can I render only the active part of the movie (without zooming)? It should be different output video size since I’m going to crop out the black areas but how can I do that in Vegas?
