Posted by Fabiano Peres on August 8, 2006 at 11:40 amHi there.
Take a look at this amazing video from iPod https://www.apple.com/ipod/ads/1000songs/
I’m trying to create a similar effect, but when the the building are breaking down I couldn’t meke it realistic. Any ideas? How would you do that?Thank for any suggestion.

August 8, 2006 at 12:23 pmI believe this commercial was already discussed in this forum, and it was revealed/decided that that spot was done in a true 3D app. Maya, if I remember right, or C4D. You could (maybe) do it in After Effects, but in the time it would take you to do it you could probably learn the 3D app and do it faster. It would be an incredible amount of parenting, keyframing, etc…in AE. If I remember right, someone said expressions or scripting in a 3D app would make it much easier and faster.
Mike.

August 8, 2006 at 1:38 pmYou probably need to do an Advanced Search, including “all active posts” and the archives.
Any way, searching for “ipod” and “3D” led to this thread, among others.

August 8, 2006 at 1:42 pmIf you look at the Leopard preview on apple’s website, you’ll see it. It’s called core animation.

Good luck!

August 9, 2006 at 11:20 amOK, thank you very much for all the help.
Sorry to say that but, I disagree with people who said the amination was done on a 3D app, I think most of it was created in After effects, as I’m doing mine. And I’ll not give it up, I will do it and I will only use After Effects because I believe it is really able to do that. This is not a commercial one, I just face it as a challenge, I think it’s excellent for me to improve my skills.Once more, thanks to all of you.

August 10, 2006 at 9:40 pmHow about using Echospace from Trapcode. I think it was made to so something just like that…There’s also another plugin that deals with tons of 3d array objects in AFX but I can’t rememeber the name, i think they made Geomancy…..

August 11, 2006 at 11:41 amThanks walkinginspace.
I’m using 3d assistants, and as I said, this is not a commercial project. I just want to do it for fun, so I’ll only work on it on my free time. If the result is good, I’ll add a link here so you can see it.big hugs
