  • How to create this animation?

    Hi, cows!

Need help with animation. Please check out this video ( 1st 6 seconds only) –> https://youtu.be/dre9jCYRWYw

In the 1st 6 seconds, the two small circles with icons revolve around the large circle. They change shape while moving and then take the original shape of the circle on the next stop.

I want to recreate that revolving animation of circles while changing shapes. I was able to revolve them around the circle by tracing the path. I don’t know how to change their shape while they move.

The animation is quick so watch the video at 0.5x to observe the motion I am talking about.

    Please help me out.

There is a plug-in at aescripts for that effect.

By hand, its an organic style animated vector shape.

For beginners start with the bouncing ball technique.

Then move up to the organic style animation.

Thank you, Eric. I am comfortable with the bouncing ball technique.

I am interested in that particular effect right now. I was able to create a similar-looking effect by applying the twist operator to the circle shape. However, it’s not perfect.

It’s more of a morphing technique.

Where it starts as an ellipse then into a pill shape with a bend.

Some would keyframe that but I am sure there are combinations of distorted options that can do it.

    Just need to practice.

I would go a different direction. I would create a big circle around the central one, give it a big stroke matching the diameter of the small outer circle I want to create and make sure the stroke has rounded caps. Then I add a trim path where the start or the end (depending on the direction I want the circle to spin) are very close, so lets say start at 0% and end at 0.1%. The resulting stroked path should appear as a circle. Now I would animate the offste of the trim path, animate the start/end property so the stroke stretches and shortens again and finally I would edit the stroke thickness so it appears to be shrinking while moving.

Wow, Robert! Thank you so much. I knew this would work as soon as I read it. I went in and tried it. I am able to create the exact effect.

Until now I was thinking, I need to do some kind of morphing technique to produce this as Eric also suggested. But this is so easy. Thank you once again.
