Hello, forums community! I have a question about creating a video in After Effects to illustrate my design with motion graphics. I’m interested in resources and tips for self-learning. Additionally, the link to videos involves the architect Bjarke Ingles, who is renowned for his diagrams and visuals. Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

    Het Dhru,

That video you are using as an example is quite old – from back in the day of Adobe CS, instead of today’s AE CC.

Back then, when I worked with clients on visualization, it was a mix of importing CAD to 3D-Max, and from there add “people” + more in AE.

Today you have much more choice in form of adding Unity and Blender to the mix + a large depository of plug-ins and templates.

Although, you might want to investigate whether AR (or VR) if those tools are faster for you to use to what you want to achieve.

With regard to Bjarke Ingels himself, there is a more recent documentary which NetFlix has released for free here:

As a general note, the whole series of Abstract is worth a watch if you are a creative.

Hope this helps you look in the right direction.

Hey, thanks so much for the reply, yes I have watched the abstract series and it is amazing, could you please refer me some tutorials for geometry to add into my scene and what it is called actually, let me know the term/keyword so I know I am searching it better, is it called Element3d or Holograms or else! I am confused between these a lot!

    Hey Dhru,

    My search string would be:
    architect 3d visualisation

Best way to learn is to have a project, even if just “imaginary”.
Taking your example video – shoot video at a space where you want to place your object.
(Could be mobile phone, HD-SLR, video camera – anything that moves)
Find a suitable 3D model that you want to add – even a square building will do.

Start tracking and compositing, and you’ll soon learn.

As After Effects comes with Mocha, head over to BorisFX and get really good at using it whilst working on your “pet-project”.
They have a stack of free tutorial videos here:

Alternatively, head over to LinkedIn training.
Eran Stern, and you can never go wrong with him, have this course:
    https://www.linkedin.com/learning/integrating-real-3d-objects-in-after-effects
His YouTube channel is also a place full of everything that you’ll want to know, and don’t know:
    https://www.youtube.com/@SternFX

    Hope that this helps.

Thanks so much for this, I will quickly dive into it and start learning, this is something I created with cinema4d + after effects, just a gist of it, currently the model is just static but in upcoming video I will manipulate 2d to 3d, morph objects, etc….. very excited to create, will definitely share the progress and files on the platform.
