  • How to create overlays for DVD Studio Pro?

Posted by Macintosh Patterson on May 25, 2005 at 5:01 pm

I don’t like the way text looks when done in DVD Studio Pro so I’ve heard a better way to do it is to create an overlay. Here’s what I’m planning on doing. Create a background in Photoshop and drop it in. Then I need help. I need at leaset 2 buttons. For now let’s say “Play Movie” and “Scene Selection”

I understand that the background I originally drop in should have this text and then I create another file that when brought into DVDSP becomes the overlay. I know how to do all that. I just need help in creating the overlay text in the first place to bring it into DVDSP. If someone can walk me through it , it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance! 🙂

Fully covered in Photoshop for Nonlinear Eaditors (several pages long)

    here is condensed.

    Build your graphic in PS
    Save off your background
Turn off all Layers exceopt those belonging to your alpha matte
    Make new Layer
    Select New layer
    Hold down Option Key
    Choose Merge Visible
    Lock transparency
    Fill with White
    Make New layer underneath
    Fill with Black
    Merge layers
    save off
    Invert so black on white
Save that off too (can’t remember from top of head if DVDSP prefers w/on b or b/on w)

    Bring that into DVDSP

read online help about using a highlight matte
