October 9, 2010 at 7:15 pmYou can use Quicktime Player for this:
- Start QT Player and import the file you want to convert.
- Choose ‘Export’ from the file menu
- Select ‘Movie to MPEG-4’ from the selection at the bottom of the Save dialogue window that appears.
- Click on ‘Options’ beside the ‘Export’ pop-up selections
- In the sub-window that appears choose ‘H.264’ in the Video Format selection menu.
- From there you can choose the rest of your movie setup prefs.
Please make a note in your posts if you decide to post the same question to multiple forums. That way the the folks answering you aren’t wasting their time if someone else has already given you a correct response.

October 9, 2010 at 10:44 pmJust a reminder but we should clarify the difference between codec and wrapper(extension).
H.264 is MPEG-4 Part 10.
.mp4 is the wrapper.XDCAM EX is MPEG-2 but it too is in an .mp4 wrapper when initially recorded to SxS.
BTW when you encode to one of the iOS settings and you get .m4v that’s actually mp4 related as well. You can change the .m4v to .mp4 without issue. That is not the case if you encode to .mov.
In other words, using any iOS setting will also give you a file you can use as .mp4 just by changing the extension.
