How to create an animated knit-sweater texture like effect?
A client is asking for an animation that zooms into video of a christmas sweater and the characters on the sweater are animated. I think this could be pretty cool and very graphical, but i’m not sure how to go about making the sweater texture animate so each frame would would be as if the knit was custom done for that frame. I would think I could animate fairly simple objects and have some sort of base layer effect that affects the whole animation globally to make it look knit. It could look good in low framerate too. Does anyone have any idea how to achieve this kind of effect? Would something like this be better to do in a 3D package? Thank you!

Talking of just the matter of achieving the knitted sweater look, since I happen to be familiar with the program, I would probably do the effect as a Photoshop batch through Filter Forge. It has a ready-made sweater filter that takes an image input.
