How to create a SLOW trail of dust?
Hi everyone – any help would be appreciated – I’m trying to create an animated trail of dust (particles?) in AE that evolves VERY slowly along a path, for about 6 minutes. It needs to resemble a jet plane trail, but with left-behind particles that are not frozen static. I’ve connected CC Particle World XYZ positions to follow a Null Object that is moving along a path very slowly, and configured the Birth Rate, Velocity and Resistance to fit the preferred width, and Animation Type to Viscourse. However, the only way to make it a long slow trail, that doesn’t vanish from its starting point, seems to be to adjust Longevity to something like 700 seconds. That makes the moving, expanding particles almost entirely static, which looks pretty bad. I’ve tried each of the parameters, but it’s not producing desired results.
Is there any way to achieve this effect, but have the trailed particles be dynamic? Can they be made to wiggle or something? Anything that doesn’t freeze them. I’ve attached screenshots of the evolution, which lasts about 6 minutes in total. If anyone has any suggestions on the best way to make this work, it would be very helpful.
