I know how to scale a clip and move it around to create a normal picture-in-picture, but I need something a little different. I’ve created an instructional video that’s demonstrating written instructions. I’d like the instructions to scroll in a small window in the corner of the main video. The instructions are just a jpeg that I’d like to be longer/taller than the height of the inset window so I can scroll them just by animating the Y parameter. Any tips?

Nest the JPEG in its own custom size (window).

You can add a mask or graphic as borders.

you will animate the Y position in that (pre) sequence.

When placing the nested sequence in the main sequence you can transform do your desire.

Heck even use deforms to make it interesting (Star Wars intro).

While waiting for tips, I came up with the idea of placing the scrolling video on a track beneath the main one and using a mask to let it show through. That seems to work (https://youtu.be/7tEKPycs5vE).
