  • How to create a motion path of shapes to emphasize jumping animation??

Posted by Heather Crank on March 31, 2007 at 7:30 am

    Hi,

I have an animation that jumps. When this animation hits the ground I’d like several shapes on either side to spread out, (kind of like a mouse trail effect without the mouse, and the shapes would spread out more organically with each jump instead of just following the image) to emphasize the movement. Any suggestions (I’d love to not have to do this one shape at a time!).

    Thanks!

There are several possible scripts you can use to link the objects to a master object and impart some spring and rebound physics. Highly advanced stuff. See the AE Expressions forum here but spend a few hours and search carefully before reposting the question. If you do not understand expressions and scripting, you’re going to need several days to work out how those features function. The concepts are not difficult but creating and modifying scripts/expressions takes unbelievable patience, trial and error. If you know Java Script it’s easier.

Apple’s Motion has several prebuilt behaviors that program objects to behave as you describe.

Thank you sooo much! I had suspected it might be an expressions thing….I was hoping it wasn’t. But maybe it’s finally time to dive into the scary equation world.

I’ll definitely check out the expression section on the cow.

    Thank you again!
