  • How to create a “bendable” spot light

I would like to create a spot light beam that can be bent and animated; I believe this is impossible to do just by using the regular “spot light”, therefore I tried using a cylindrical tube (via Sweep Nurb with splines) and then applying an area light onto the object with glow enabled in the render settings.

The resulting look was not satisfactory — I could not get the sort of diffused / volumetric light one would see from a real spot light.

Does anyone have any idea how I could achieve the desired look? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    mmhhh

i would stick to the tube, and then
using a texture with illumination and
transparancy for it, maybe turn on
the additive function in the material.
