  • How to copy and paste text attribute?

Posted by Newton Niu on January 5, 2010 at 7:08 am

    Hi, everyone!

I’ve finished doing all the text for my video, but now I want to change their sizes and positions.
I think it is possible that i change one of them, and then paste attributes to others.

But how to do that? When i click command C and option V to another test clip, there are several choices such as motion, speed, but none of them seems work.

How to do that, please, guys?

    Thank you.

    Export an XML
OPen it with a text editor
Use the Find Command to find the name of your Text Eg.
Replace with your desired font Eg.
    Hit replace all

For Font size it’s a bit trickier, since the size is only indicated by a number and you don’t want to change other numbers that are related to your font size. You have to Copy and paste surrounding lines of code, basically a big chunk that indicates the font size. Replace it with the same big chunk of code but with a different font size value. I can’t get into detail about it here. you just gotta study the code a bit and understand what makes it tick. The same logic applies with the font style I pointed out above.

Import the XML back into Final Cut to see the result. I recommend doing a test first with only one hunk of text so you don’t get confused.

As stated above. I would export the XML and do a find and replace for the whole document.

What you are looking for is something like this:
(I had to change all the <> to [ ] in my example, since the forum interprets this as html :-))

    [parameterid][fontsize[/parameterid]
    [name]Size[/name]
    [valuemin]0[/valuemin]
    [valuemax]1000
