    i object 1( made only of strokes(open paths), cut with object 2 so i can get object 3 but only made of strokes(open paths) not expanded, but nothing work, divide objects bellow, pathfinder… i dont know what i’m doind wrong
    illustrator cs6
    is it possible that illustrator cant cut open paths?
    please help

    i dont have cs6 but i did this in cs5.5.. unless something changed between the versions.

    so i made some Lines…. AKA open paths… i then made a circle. just like you did

    i then selected everything

    in the path finder i use the outline button… i then applied a new stroke color and used the hollow arrow to delete all the extra stuff i didn’t need. i also switched over to outline mode to make sure i deleted all the extra elements. this should leave you with a set of lines outside the circle that are still open paths.

    thx, i knew that but i thought that there is a way to do it witdouth having to manualy delete unwanted parts

    if you use the lasso tool on the paths you want to keep and then go to selection/ invert and hit delete twice you should have what you want.
