How to convert to .mjpg
My client is asking me to provide the final video in the .mjpg format. Can you please tell me what program for mac will allow me to convert a .mov to a .mjpg file? I have done some online research but have come up short since this seems to be a pretty obscure file format. I appreciate the help.

Motion jpeg is a codec and .mov is just a wrapper.
Exporting from FCP using quicktime conversion will create a motion jpeg .mov file if you select that codec. You could try renaming the file using the .mjpg extension if it still doesn’t work.

The codec is called Motion JPEG A/B in QuickTime, if you can’t see that codec in Video Settings of QuickTime you need to enable “Show Legacy encoders” in the quicktime advanced preferences.

“.mpg” yes.
To be requested today a Motion JPEG is not much norma.
To be requested an .mpg is very normal.
Are you sure is not an “.mpg” what your client want?
I think that somebody put the”j” by mistake.

Thanks for the response. So is there no file extension called .mjpg? Are you saying it’s only a codec? The client wants the video to play in one of those video picture frames and she says they only take .mjpg files which I believe are files from digital cameras.

Hi Jeff,
I found an “.mjpg” extension.
Is for a Motion-JPG for PCs (IBM).
There is nothing in Mac that works with such a extension.

Might be worth exporting to Motion JPEG in QuickTime and just changing the extension from .mov to .mjpg to see if that works.

Hi Jeff,
As luke suggest, try changing the extension to .mov, or without extension.
The codecis just a Motion-JPEG. Is very possible that works.
You may try with MPEGStreamcip.
