How to convert Raylight MXF back to Quicktime??
Hi all,
In the past when I have Media Managed projects, they’ve worked fine because all my footage was either already actual QTs from a Log & Capture or Log & Transfer.
But now I have a smaller project (15 minutes) that I used some Raylight MXF files from another project. So that’s fine for playback and exporting, but when I try Media Managing, the MXF files are saved as reference files only.
Am I missing a setting to make these reference files into true QT files? I thought that’s what Media Manager was supposed to do. In fact, it will show 17.5GB on the green bars, but then in the Media folder it creates, size will be 8GB (because half of the files will be MXF reference files). Basically, I want ALL files in my Media Managed folder to be standalone QTs.Here’s how my settings look:

Yeah…you need to LOG AND CAPTURE them to make them true QT files. The only QT files that exist for them now are the ones Raylight makes so that FCP can see the MXF files. They haven’t been converted to QT…they just have small QT pointers.

Nope. Media manager moves and CAN recompress. And COPY. But I am not sure how it reacts when using third party software to make ref QTs of MXF files. I don’t think the MM would deal with them in the same way. It might RECOMPRESS them…not sure about copy.

I tried Recompress and I think that will do it. As long as I use the exact same acquisition format (in the drop-down list), then I probably shouldn’t lose any quality.
