  • How to Control the Speed With Background Noise Texture

    Hi,
I am using the plasma noise texture background in a film. I am trying to make a kind of psychedelic motion background – but I don’t understand the settings.

I have 2 sections I want to use this background with, one with a faster speed on the movement and one section with a slower speed on the movement. The fast section is 10 seconds the slow section in 12 minutes – HOW do you control the speed of the movement of the different colors or layers. The assistance file makes a little sense, but it doesn’t say how to make the motion (or I guess ‘noise’) move faster or occur more?

    Thanks

You can animate any of the parameters using keyframes. Any of the Offset parameters will give motion to your noise. The Progress (in degrees) slider will provide evolving motion, while the X & Y offsets will move the entire noise in that direction.

If you want the motion to last 10 seconds then you should create a Noise Texture event that is at least 10 seconds long. If you create a shorter one and extend it the motion will loop so make sure that your event is at least as long as you want your motion to be.

Nested FX such as twirl, pinch/punch and radial blur really assist in the psycho. Combine this with a keyed pan and zoom and your styling. I got something looking groovy in less than 5-minutes.

    Cheers
