How can I completely purge all data stored as preview frames from RAM preview?

EDIT: Problem is solved! Edit>purge>Image Cache Memory

right now I am working with a plugin that heavily relies on the look of a few previously rendered frames and the movement within these frames.
it seems that whenever I change some settings in the plug I don’t get a accurate representation of the new settings because it still uses the previously rendered frames with the old settings. (there is also a note in the plugins manual that says “previews must be purged”.

I already used the brute force method and just grabbed a corner of the footage and resized it a bit… but somehow AE still seems to reuse some of the old information.
emptying the disk cache also did not work
