How to change resolution
Posted by Petr Berger on April 1, 2011 at 9:39 pmI have some graphics in AE (from my friend) and its 720×576. I need to render it in HD. I know hot to change composition settings, but when I try to render it I still see 720×576 in render settings.

April 1, 2011 at 9:44 pmThat sounds a bit odd. In any case I recommend the Scale Composition script. It’s located in File > Scripts.

April 1, 2011 at 10:03 pmDave’s right, if your comp contains any SD video or bitmapped graphics from Photoshop or whatnot. If it’s all graphics created in AE, the layers will scale uniformly without a loss in quality.

April 1, 2011 at 10:43 pmYes, its PSD files (but result looks ok). The second problem is, when I render it in HD (HDTV 720) i’ll miss alpha channell.

April 1, 2011 at 11:35 pmYou need to render with a codec that supports an alpha channel (Animation, ProRes 4444,.tiff sequence, etc.)
And in the Output Module set Channels to RGB + Alpha, Depth – Millions of Colors +.
Were you specifically asked for an alpha channel? Usually that’s only necessary for something like lower thirds, as better compositing results will be achieved in AE than in an NLE.Joey Foreman

April 3, 2011 at 10:08 pmI set it (color) as RGB, million color and straight and there is a message “you should also output alpha channel to use straight color” – where? I cant see it anywhere.
