  • How to change pan attributes of source audio clips?

Posted by Chi-ho Lee on June 12, 2014 at 3:22 pm

So I can’t seem to find the answer to this via the search or googling. Is there a way to change the pan of a source clip from the bin so it will carry this change with each subsequent edit?

I would imagine this would be easy but I can’t figure it out….thanks for any advice!

You can right click the clip in the bin, go to “Modify” –> “Audio Channels.” This doesn’t really allow you to pan the audio, but it does allow you to map it to whatever channels you want.

And it is important to remember you need to make these changes BEFORE you place the clip in the timeline.

I knew you can remap the audio channels but is there no way to change the pan of a source clip?

Highlight the clip in the bin, right click, New Sequence From Clip, pan how you want. Use this sequence as a replacement for the clip and if you don’t like seeing a sequence in your timeline you can set it up to show as a clip (no renaming necessary) and the pan info will remain intact.

The answer is apparently “No”, because this program was developed by monkeys.

Seriously… I’d never use this program if I wasn’t forced to.
