Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but gonna give it a try.

    I’m planning to make a sort of showreel or montage that shows 10 different animation categories. So far I have narrowed it down to the most used in this list. ;

    01 Character | (Explainer video)

    02 Type | (Kinetic type, Title intro/outro)

03 Visual effects | (Greenscreen, explosions/fluids/particulars, motiontracked fx)

    04 3D | (Products, exploded views)

    05 Photo | (2/D, collage)

    06 Abstract | (shapes, textures)

07 Interface UX | (apps, dashboard car startup)

    08 Frame by frame |

    09 Stopmotion | (Pinokkio movie)

    10 AI ? | (software automated generated)

    Any ideas or examples?

Some of those can be truncated to a single example.

Frame by frame and Stop-motion for instance.

Not sure what you mean by Character (Explainer Video).
    Are you referring to PowToons?

I would not put that together.

    Hi Eric,

I see ‘Frame by frame’ as animating in Photoshop exporting to AE. Stopmotion more clay puppets or real live studio recording.

Characters animation is maybe a broad term.. I mean animations like Dekay and Motion Markus.

Actually, you could choose to categorize your animations in any way that makes sense to you. Certainly, the AI-Generated Animation and 3D Animation should be a separate categories. The Character Animation – this category would include all animations that involve characters, whether they are animated, for example like saas explainer video or animated shorts with full characters and storylines. However, the Interface UX Animation I’d make specific category for apps or dashboard interfaces. Frame-by-Frame Animation might be also a separate category, like Oscar®-Winning Short Film “Hair Love” hand-drawn animation from Matthew A. Cherry of Sony Pictures Animation
